Miku Tanaka and Moe Iori, who have watched the film version of the TV anime "My Dangerous Wife," which is based on a popular manga currently being serialized on Akita Shoten's manga site "Champion Cross," have commented on the film.
Tanaka commented, "Honestly, I thought, 'Wow, this crazy work is being made into a live-action film!' It starts quietly, but before you know it, it has gripped your heart, to the point that it's a little scary. I can't really put into words how real and interesting the characters' emotions were, but I was instantly drawn in. The moment I saw it, I wanted to see more, and before I knew it, I was sucked into it. I hope everyone will experience that kind of shock for themselves."
Iori wrote, "During the school trip, my teacher suddenly handed me a camera and said, 'Take pictures of everyone.' I think he put me in charge of the camera to create an opportunity since I didn't have many friends. Being shy, I panicked, thinking, 'Talk to people? Really?!' but I asked a kid nearby, 'Can I take a picture?' He replied, 'Whose camera is that? I don't want to,' and I thought I was going to go into a dark place. I have quite a few memories that overlap with Ichikawa's. By the way, I only had one friend."
Yusuke from Diane, Nonoko from Shinsei Kamattechan, Yamazaki Kei from Aiseki Start, and Sekai from EXILE/FANTASTICS also provided comments.
"My Dangerous Wife" began serialization in Weekly Shonen Champion (Akita Shoten) in 2018 and is currently being serialized in Champion Cross (same publisher). It is a youthful romantic comedy about Ichikawa Kyotaro, an introverted boy in the midst of his chuunibyou syndrome, and Yamada Anna, a beautiful, outgoing girl at the top of the school's social hierarchy. It has gained popularity, having been ranked in the "This Manga is Amazing!" men's edition for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021, and winning first place in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Awards 2020" in 2020. The comic has sold over 7 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2023, and the second season from January to March 2024 on TV Asahi's late-night anime slot "NUMAnimation." The movie version is composed of re-edited footage from the TV anime, as well as all-new footage of what happens "after" the second season and "that moment between Ichikawa and Yamada." It was released on February 13th.
