A ceremony commemorating the opening of the "Detective Conan 30th Anniversary TV Anime Exhibition," a special exhibition based on Gosho Aoyama's popular manga, was held on February 19th at Tokyo Dome City Prism Hall (Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo), featuring Mai Kuraki, who has sung many of the series' theme songs. Kuraki's collaboration with the series began with the ending theme "Secret of my heart" in 2000, and in 2017, she was recognized by the Guinness World Records for "the most theme songs sung by the same artist for an anime series." The current ending, "TOWA ~Eikyuu ni Kaze no Riru~," marks the 28th song in the series. Kuraki expressed her surprise and joy, saying, "It's a miracle just to have been able to perform the theme song for my beloved Detective Conan, but to be recognized by Guinness is a miracle. I'm still breaking records, and that's amazing!"
Kuraki revealed that "Secret of my heart" was her first tie-up, and that "when I first got the opportunity to work on it, I was a 17-year-old high school student. I saved up my pocket money to buy the Detective Conan comic books and read them with my older brother. I had just made my debut as a singer, and I felt like I had used up all my luck when I got the chance to sing my favorite Conan song."
Also appearing at the event were Aoyama, Takayama Minami, the voice actor for Edogawa Conan, and Yamaguchi Kappei, the voice actor for Kaitou Kid and Kudo Shinichi.
The "30th Anniversary of the Broadcast of the TV Anime Detective Conan Exhibition" will be held at the same venue from February 20th to March 29th. This is a special exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary of the broadcast, and visitors can learn about the behind-the-scenes production process of the TV anime "Detective Conan" by touring the areas from "#1 Project" to "#5 Theme Song." There is also an area that brings together famous scenes from the TV anime, and a special movie will also be screened.
"Detective Conan" is a manga that depicts Conan Edogawa solving a series of difficult cases that occur one after another, and began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) in 1994. The comics have sold over 270 million copies in total. The TV anime series has been airing since 1996, and celebrated its 30th anniversary this January. The latest film, the 29th installment, "Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway," will be released on April 10th.
