A ceremony to commemorate the opening of the "30th Anniversary Broadcast of the TV Anime 'Detective Conan' Exhibition," a special exhibition of the anime "Detective Conan," based on the popular manga by Gosho Aoyama, was held on February 19th at Tokyo Dome City Prism Hall (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo), with appearances by Aoyama, Mai Kuraki, Takayama Minami, the voice actor for Edogawa Conan, and Yamaguchi Kappei, the voice actor for Kaitou Kid and Kudo Shinichi.
The TV anime "Detective Conan" celebrated its 30th anniversary this January, and Takayama said, "I've been acting without wavering for 30 years," and when asked about the difference between playing Conan as a child in the series and when he speaks as Kudo Shinichi, he said, "It's not difficult. As Conan, I judge who is there and whether to speak as a child or just as I am. It's something I do reflexively." Upon hearing this, Aoyama praised him, saying, "You're doing great," to which Takayama replied with a smile, "Of course I do."
Yamaguchi, who plays Shinichi, said he was conscious of Takayama's acting, saying, "I'm trying to speak while hoping to sound at least a little like Minami." Takayama then revealed that the first and second episodes of the TV anime were recorded first, in the opposite order to the broadcast order, as the second episode, in which Conan appears, was recorded first, explaining, "Conan was recorded first, and once Conan was solidified, (Yamaguchi) recorded Shinichi." Aoyama, who seemed to be hearing this behind-the-scenes story for the first time, seemed surprised, saying, "I didn't know. I was tricked."
The "30th Anniversary of the Broadcast of the TV Anime Detective Conan Exhibition" will be held at the same venue from February 20th to March 29th. This is a special exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary of the broadcast, and visitors can learn about the behind-the-scenes production process of the TV anime "Detective Conan" by touring the areas from "#1 Project" to "#5 Theme Song." There is also an area that brings together famous scenes from the TV anime, and a special movie will also be screened.
"Detective Conan" is a manga that depicts Conan Edogawa solving a series of difficult cases that occur one after another, and began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) in 1994.
