It has been revealed that the first season (2023) of the TBS Sunday drama "VIVANT," starring actor Masato Sakai, which will have a sequel starting in July, has surpassed 4.5 million views (all 10 episodes) in less than a month during its limited-time free streaming (March 22 to April 18). It will be available for free streaming again for a limited time on TVer and TBS FREE starting June 5.
Regarding this free distribution, producer Kazutaka Iida released a statement. "There are still many unresolved 'mysteries' and 'truths' that will be newly revealed in the second season, and many seeds of them are buried within. I have read many theories, but I have the impression that there are still some things that have not been noticed," he said, offering a cryptic message.
It has been announced that a sequel to "VIVANT" will be broadcast on Sunday Theater for six months starting in July. It has been revealed that the sequel will pick up right after the scene in the last season where the "red bun" is once again placed in front of the protagonist, Yusuke Nogi (played by Sakai), and that extensive location shooting took place in Azerbaijan.
◇Comment from producer Kazutaka Iida
When "VIVANT" aired in 2023, it was available for free streaming and was watched by many people. We are very happy that it has continued to be watched even now, three years later. There are several reasons why we are making it available for free streaming again at this time, with the broadcast of the second season just around the corner next month.
First, a message to everyone who has already watched the first season of "VIVANT." The first season contains many unresolved mysteries and seeds of truths that will be revealed in the second season. I've read many theories, but I get the impression that there are still some things that haven't been noticed. So, the first reason is that I would like you to thoroughly check it out during this streaming period.
The second reason is for those of you who have never seen "VIVANT" before. Some people may think "VIVANT" is complicated because it's often the subject of analysis, but it's actually a simple story. The beginning is a "great escape," the middle is a "hero story," and the end is a "father-son story," so it's actually quite easy to get into. I would be happy if you would watch the first episode to see for yourself. My second reason is that I would like you to take this opportunity to watch it casually.
Thirdly, while it has been announced that the second season of "VIVANT" will air for two consecutive seasons, this project is designed with not only the duration but also a sense of connection in mind. We have prepared various developments that will allow viewers to participate and feel closer to "VIVANT." In that sense, the final reason for this is that we want as many people as possible to stand at the starting point.
In 2026, we want to create the "VIVANT" world together with all of you. There's still a little time until the broadcast, so please join us!!!
