Professional figure skater Marin Honda attended a press conference to celebrate the release of Kai Corporation's personal care brand "miness" mini eyebrow cream, held in Tokyo on February 19th. Honda, who serves as an ambassador for the brand, spoke about a recent "crisis" that had raised eyebrows during the event.
Honda said, "The other day, I tried skiing for the first time in my life. I often heard from my fellow skaters that 'people who skate can also ski,' but when I was active, it was one of the prohibited sports because it could cause injuries. (Since I retired) I was able to try skiing for the first time." He continued, "I couldn't do it at all. I really couldn't. Now I'm watching all kinds of winter sports on TV, so I was really motivated, but... It felt like the edges of my skates were really long, and because the feeling was so close, I couldn't do anything."
He continued with a wry smile, "I bought a ticket for the five-hour course, but returned it after about 15 minutes. I could see myself getting injured, so I thought I'd quit before I got hurt. That's how little talent I had."
When asked by the MC how far she had managed to go, she recalled, "I'm sure you can only ski downhill, right? I didn't even know that, so even when I put on my skis I couldn't move at all. I didn't even know how to stop, so I gave up right away."
She is also eager to try again, saying, "If I have the opportunity someday, I would like to practice again. I have played a variety of sports, but there isn't much I can't do. Even among my siblings, I was the type who was quite skillful from the beginning, so I couldn't accept the fact that I couldn't do it. So I would be happy if I could try something again someday."
