"Reboot" Episode 5 Synopsis

The fifth episode of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Reboot" (Sundays at 9pm), starring Suzuki Ryohei, will be broadcast on February 22nd.

In the previous episode... 10 billion yen worth of goods that Goroku (Kitamura Yukiya) had been secretly storing were stolen. It was the work of the "real Gido (Suzuki)," but Hayase (Suzuki) was suspected of being the culprit. Cornered, Hayase revealed his true identity, but Goroku did not believe him.

In order to prove that he is not Gido but "Pastry Chef Hayase," Hayase makes Hayase Confectionery Shop's signature "Hayase Shortcake" and treats it to Goroku and the others.

Meanwhile, Ichika (Toda Erika) answers Goroku's call and reports, "Three years ago, Gido stole 1 billion yen, killed Natsumi (Yamaguchi Sayaka), and buried her in the mountains." She confesses that Gido approached her to embezzle money from the organization, and that she had no choice but to comply because he threatened to kill her sister, Ayaka (Yoda Yuki). Ichika goes on to say that Gido proposed a plan to frame Hayase as the culprit and have Gido reboot her...

In episode 5... Hayase and Ichika finally join forces to track down the real Gido. However, behind Gido lies a huge, dark organization led by Goroku. Unless they destroy this organization, the two have no future. Hayase and Ichika embark on a dangerous plan to simultaneously achieve two goals: to track down Gido and destroy the organization.

The key to this lies with Fuyuhashi (played by Nagase Ren), the man who handles Goroku's secret work. When the two visit him, they learn about a "past that has never been told."

With no conclusive information in hand, that man suddenly appears. It's Gido! Hayase and Ichika decide to confront him head-on to put an end to everything, and head to the scene. However, what awaits them there is a shocking turn of events that no one could have predicted...

The screenplay is by Tsutomu Kuroiwa. It is a suspense story in which Hayase Riku, framed for the murder of his wife, abandons his family and past, reboots himself as a corrupt detective named Gido, and pursues the real culprit.
