On February 12th, NHK held a press conference at the Broadcasting Center in Shibuya, Tokyo, titled "2026 Domestic and International Broadcast Program Changes and Main Program Casters." It was announced that a new program, "Open in the World! Secret Doors" (General TV, Wednesdays at 7:57 PM), will begin airing in April, with Aiba Masaki of the popular group Arashi as the MC.
The network described the program as "an unprecedented overseas travel program." The show will unravel the world's "secrets," from breathtaking scenery and gourmet food to surprising lifestyles and unexpected connections to Japan, including a trip to unknown places rarely featured in the Japanese media based on surveys of local residents, and a trip to express gratitude to the people of other countries who make things that are familiar to us.
Additionally, a new music program, "Masterpiece Study Class" (General TV, Thursdays 8:15 pm), will be launched, with comedian Osamu Shitara of the comedy duo "Bananaman" as the MC, providing an in-depth analysis of famous songs from the Showa and Heisei eras with a "Reiwa sensibility." The second season of "Kirin's Akira Kawashima's popular variety show, "Kaisei Ou Kawashima" (General TV, Mondays 11 pm), will also begin, and the Saturday drama slot at 10 pm will also be returning for the first time in six months.
In addition, radio audio waves will be reorganized, with the three waves being reorganized into two: NHK FM and NHK AM.
