The 87th episode of the NHK morning drama "Bakeke" (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others), starring Takaishi Akari, was broadcast on February 3rd. In the episode, Toki (played by Takaishi) was rumored to be a "Rashaman," and it was revealed that the serial "Heaven Sensei Diary" in the Matsue Shimpo newspaper, which was the source of the rumor, had ended, causing outrage among viewers.
After an article written by journalist Kajitani (Iwasaki Udai) spreads the rumor that Toki is a "Rashamen," the townspeople's view of him changes completely, and a fan with the words "Toki Rashamen" written on it is thrown in front of his house.
Kajitani apologizes, saying, "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to do that, but something just started going wrong..." Tsukasasuke (Takashi Okabe) grabs Kajitani and says, "Write in tomorrow's newspaper that 'Otoki is not a rasshamen'!"
When Kajitani asked, "Then let me confirm one thing," and "Otoki-san, you're really...really...not a Rashamen, right?" Heaven (Tommy Bastow) exploded in anger and threw Kajitani into the garden.
At the Ameshimizu household, Sannosuke (Itagaki Rikito) is reading the newspaper and worries, asking, "Is Toki okay?" The paper Sannosuke is reading is "Dr. Heaven's Diary," and under the headline "Suspicious Eyes Directed at Mrs. Heaven," it describes a fight between Tsukasa and citizens who criticize Toki, and how unsold Heaven family merchandise, once popular, has been thrown into their home.
Furthermore, at the end of the article there was a "Postscript" that read, "The serialization of Heaven Sensei's Diary has come to an end as of today."
When it was revealed that the serialization, which had led to Toki being the subject of unfounded rumors and slander, had ended without even an apology, comments such as "I'm in tears... I can't forgive Kajitani...", "I'll never forgive Kajitani", "Cancelling the serialization? The frightening interaction between such irresponsibility and the fickle psychology of the masses", "It's infuriating that the serialization ended without a correction", "They should have at least published a correction article before ending the serialization", "I wonder if Kajitani ended the serialization out of conscience, or because he decided there was no longer any demand for it", and "How will he take responsibility if something happens to her family?" were posted on social media.
