The key visual for the TV anime "Kujima Sings, Then the House Falls," based on the manga by Akira Konno that was serialized in "Gessan" (Shogakukan), has been released. The visual shows the entire Koda family gathered together, with Kujima, Koda Arata, and others enjoying nagashi somen noodles.
Additional cast members were also announced, including Azakami Yohei as Koda Hide, Shiraishi Ryoko as Koda Miyoshi, and Nojima Hirofumi as Koda Masaomi.
Azagami, who plays Arata's older brother, Koda Hide, a student preparing for the entrance exams, commented, "I think Hide is the only character in the Koda family who is one step outside of this work and this worldview. He's calm and sarcastic, and he speaks for what the readers are feeling. He's the only one who can compete with the surrealism that Kujima creates... (laughs) So I don't go along with the family's vibe (especially Kujima), but I maintain my consciousness (sanity) by pointing out things directly to them."
Shiraishi, who plays Arata's mother, Koda Miyoshi, said, "Even during the audition, I wondered how I should play the role...I submitted my voice without being able to find any particular quirks or personality traits, but I tried to approach it simply and naturally without putting too much effort into it, without making it too flashy. I think the way they accept Kujima so easily shows that they are an eccentric family (laughs)."
Nojima, who plays Arata's father, Koda Masaomi, said, "I try to act naturally. I try to act in a way that gives off a sense of everyday life and normality. I can act the age of a father without any artificiality. Even when I'm speaking to Kujima, I try to treat him as a normal roommate, as a family member."
The series is a home comedy in which a mysterious creature named "Kujima" comes to live with the Koda family, bringing a breath of fresh air to the family, where the atmosphere is somewhat tense.
The anime will be directed by Noriyuki Nomata and produced by Studio Hibari. Yuria Kozuki will play Kujima and Ayumu Murase will play Arata Koda. It will be broadcast on TOKYO MX and other channels from April.
