The fourth episode of the new TV anime series "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers," a direct sequel to the "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers" series that aired from April 1988 to March 1989, entitled "Soul Battle," will be broadcast on TOKYO MX, Kansai TV, and BS11 from January 27th. This is the first new anime in about 35 years since the OVA "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers MESSAGE" released in 1991, and the first TV anime series to be broadcast in about 37 years.
As Gai and the others each activate their Yoroi Gear and begin to take shape as the new Samurai Troopers, former Samurai Trooper Shion Ishida appears before them. "I'll be unrivaled against both evil and troopers," he declares, donning a powered suit he developed himself. Then, Ryusei collapses from an unknown poison. "Stay out of my way," Shion tells Ryusei, pushing him away, and knocks on the door to the evil world alone.
The new work is a completely original story set in present-day Shinjuku, and will be directed by Yoichi Fujita, known for "Gintama" and "Mr. Osomatsu Osomatsu," with series composition and scriptwriting by Shogo Muto, known for "Kamen Rider Build," "Crows Zero," and "Thermae Romae." It will be produced by Sunrise and will be split into two seasons.
"Samurai Troopers" is an anime produced by Sunrise, depicting five boys who possess "Yoroigia" (armored armor) who are brought together by fate to fight against the evil army led by the evil emperor Arago. The TV anime aired from April 1988 to March 1989, and due to its popularity an OVA was also produced. "Samurai Troopers Gaiden" was released in 1989, "Samurai Troopers: Legend of the Bright Emperor" was released from 1989 to 1990, and "Samurai Troopers: Message" was released in 1991. A comic book adaptation by Hoshino Ryuichi was serialized in "Comic Bonbon" (Kodansha).
