It has been announced that Tsurube Shofutei and Sanma Akashiya will be appearing on the 50th anniversary special of the long-running TV Asahi talk show "Tetsuko's Room," which will be broadcast on February 1st (excluding some regions). They are the second in a series of stellar guests to appear.
Together with host Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, they engage in the annual "Card Talk" segment, where they choose cards with talk themes written on them and chat. Under the theme "50 Years Ago," they discuss what they were doing around 1976, when "Tetsuko's Room" first began. At the time, Sanma had been an apprentice to the late Shofutei Matsunosuke for about two years. He recalls that the first senior to kindly speak to him was Tsurube, another Shofutei student, and recalls one winter night when Tsurube's warmth touched him deeply. However, there is more to the story, and Sanma's talk gradually turns into "complaining" about Tsurube.
After that, the two are forced to draw the "Impersonation" card. Kuroyanagi innocently asks, "Do something!", to which Sanma and Tsurube complain, "We're not impersonation talents!", and squeeze out their secret impersonations. Kuroyanagi then makes another "impossible request," asking, "Can you do an impersonation of Otake Shinobu?"
After that, Kuroyanagi continued to make unreasonable demands on the two. "I don't think that's entertainment," "It's not funny, so let's move on to the next card," she said, cutting them off one after the other. Tsurube, who was at their mercy, declared that he had been completely defeated, saying, "There's no way I can beat Tetsuko...there's no other host who's as funny as her." Sanma also expressed his admiration, saying, "Even with these two hosting talk shows together...I think Kuroyanagi is amazing."
The program will feature the duo's first appearance on "Tetsuko's Room," as well as highlighting past episodes featuring comedians. "Celebrating Tetsuko's Room's 50th Anniversary: A Super Luxury! Celebration Special with the Whole Entertainment Industry," commemorating the 50th anniversary of the program, will air from 5:00 pm to 8:56 pm on February 1st. It has also been announced that Ren Meguro from the popular group "Snow Man" will be appearing.
