The January 24th episode of the show "Residents in Ten Colors - As Many Family Forms as There Are Houses" (MBS, Saturday 5pm, Kansai local and other stations), hosted by talent Mika Mifune and actor Taro Suruga, will introduce a "renovated warehouse house" where friends live in Shima City, Mie Prefecture.
The residents are two women who are friends and live together. The house, located in an area rich in nature, has a modern exterior with white walls and Japanese-style fittings, but it was originally an agricultural warehouse owned by one of the owners' family, built about 40 years ago. The center of the warehouse is an earthen floor that takes up one-third of the entire house, and the house has an innovative design with rooms on either side of the earthen floor.
The roof of the earthen floor space, filled with greenery, is made of transparent polycarbonate, allowing people to see the blue sky even while inside the house. On the south side of the warehouse is a 12-tatami mat dining kitchen, and on the second floor on the other side of the earthen floor are private rooms for each of them. The attic of the warehouse was made into the second floor, so the ceiling height at its highest point is 170 cm. Here, they both immerse themselves in their work from home and hobbies. There is a small door between their rooms, allowing their two dogs to come and go freely.
The two live in a house renovated from a warehouse and say, "Every day is fun" and "I never get bored." As for living as friends, they laughed and expressed their gratitude to each other, saying, "Two people is definitely more secure than one, and it's like having life partners, so living together is reassuring," and "Being able to live for a long time with such an interesting and like-minded person has made life so much more enjoyable."
"Jyunin Jyuiro" is a program that visits homes all over Japan and introduces the residents' preferences and charms for their homes. After broadcast, it will be available on TVer for one week.
