The second episode of the drama series "Reunion ~Silent Truth~" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm), starring actor Takeuchi Ryoma, was broadcast on January 20th, and the average viewership rating (according to Video Research, Kanto region, same below) was 6.1% for households and 3.5% for individuals.
The drama is a film adaptation of Yokoseki Dai's novel "Reunion" (Kodansha), which won the 56th Edogawa Rampo Prize (2010), starring Takeuchi. Four classmates share a "secret" that they buried the gun used in a crime under a cherry tree during their elementary school days. 23 years later, Junichi (Takeuchi), who has become a detective, reunites with his first love, Iwamoto Makiko (Inoue Mao), one of the four, only to find that she has become a suspect in a new murder case. This heartbreaking human love mystery begins with a fateful reunion.
The subtitle of the second episode is "Buried sins revealed."
The murder weapon in the murder case that Junichi is investigating is, of all people, a gun that he secretly buried 23 years ago with three classmates, Makiko, Keisuke (Koji Seto), and Naoto (Daichi Watanabe). Deeply shaken but still pursuing the truth, Junichi proposes to the three who shared the secret that day that they open the time capsule in which the gun was sealed...
