Actress Ayame Goriki recently attended a press conference in Tokyo for the drama series "People aren't judged by their appearances" (TV Tokyo, Thursdays at 12:30am), which will begin airing on January 8th. In reference to the drama's theme, she revealed "what made me start paying attention to my appearance."
Goriki says, "I've always loved clothes." She said she started to care about her hairstyle after "I joined the agency and got scolded by my manager." She recalled, "My hair was pretty messy. I didn't really care about my hairstyle. My manager told me to get it done and to get it properly taken care of at a beauty salon."
Although Goriki has a strong image of having short hair, she revealed, "It's always been long. I had long hair that reached down to my waist until I was 18." She explained how she started paying attention to her hair, saying, "I just left it to grow out, so I was told to take care of it properly once every six months or once every three months."
Also in attendance at the press conference were Araki Sugo, Maria Tani, Yuki Tokito, Yui Imaizumi, Shingo Fujimori, and Asaka Seto. The event was hosted by the station's announcer, Emika Furuhat.
"I Thought People Were Not Determined by Appearance" is an original drama about the protagonist, Yamato Ishiguro (played by Sugo), who has devoted his life to baseball throughout his elementary, middle, high school, and college years and has no particular interest in appearance. However, after entering the world of fashion magazines, he begins to rethink what it means to be "individuals on the outside." After each episode airs, it will be streamed on "U-NEXT" and "Prime Video." It is scheduled to air on BS TV Tokyo from January 11, 2026, at midnight on Sundays.
