It has been revealed that Yuna Taira will be appearing in the Fuji TV " Getsuku " drama "Yandoku!" (Mondays at 9pm), starring Kanna Hashimoto , which will begin airing on January 12th. She will play Hotta Maria, a fellow delinquent and best friend of the main character, Kotoha Tagami, played by Hashimoto. A visual of the trio of best friends, including Rena Joshima, played by Rio Uchida, giving each other dirty looks has also been released.
The drama is a thrilling medical entertainment about a hardcore Yankee girl, Otonami Ko, who, after her best friend dies in an accident, studies hard to become a neurosurgeon and brings a breath of fresh air to the medical field. The original work is based on a real doctor, and the script is written by Nemoto Nonji, who also wrote the NHK Asadora drama "Omusubi," in which Hashimoto starred.
Mari, played by Taira, is a man of strong sense of duty who is willing to put himself at risk for his best friend. At the age of 16, Mari died in a motorcycle accident while riding with Koonami. Hashimoto and Taira also co-starred in the films "Miracle" (directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, 2011) and "Omusubi."
Regarding his role in this film, he commented, "This is my first time playing a delinquent. I was given a role that is very important to both the story and the main character, so I was excited to enter the set. This is my first time wearing a special attack uniform, and it's so cute that I could even wear it as everyday wear (laughs)." He also enthusiastically said, "(The special attack uniform) has various words embroidered on it, including 'Conquer the Nation', so I'll do my best on set!"
