It has been announced that former Nogizaka46 member and actor Yuki Yoda will be appearing in the TBS Sunday Theatre series "Reboot" (Sundays at 9pm), starring Suzuki Ryohei, which begins on January 18th. She will play Ayaka, the younger sister of the mysterious woman, Kogo Ichika, played by Toda Erika. This will be Yoda's first appearance in a TBS drama series since the Sunday Theatre series "Japan Sinks: Hope" in October 2021.
The drama is an original work that popular screenwriter Tsutomu Kuroiwa spent three years planning. It is a suspense story about a kind-hearted pastry chef, Hayase Riku (played by Suzuki), who is framed for the murder of his wife, but who abandons his beloved family and past to pose as a corrupt Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department detective, Gido Ayumu, in order to prove his innocence and find the real culprit. Other cast members include Toda as Kogo Ichika, a certified public accountant who helps Hayase impersonate Gido, and Nagase Ren as Fuyuhashi Wataru, an employee of the NPO "Shelter" who does the dirty work for the underground organization.
Yoda plays Ayaka Kogo, Ichika's younger sister who is hospitalized due to a serious illness. Throughout the story, she becomes the character who brings out the true nature of Ichika, who is shrouded in mystery.
Yoda commented, "Even though I was reading a script, halfway through I felt a strong sense of immersion, as if I was reading a novel. I hope that Ayaka's bright and somewhat fragile presence, and Ichika's gentle expression as an older sister that she only shows to her younger sister, will be moments of comfort in this drama."
"One of the themes of the film is the underworld, so there are many brutal scenes, but I am very much looking forward to seeing how powerful it will be when turned into a movie. And the words on the poster are, 'For love'. Everything is packed into those words. I hope that viewers will be able to feel the various forms of love."
She also said that the lead actor, Suzuki Ryohei, has been her "favorite actor" since she was in junior high school, and said, "I am very honored to have been able to co-star with him this time. He listened to me talk about acting, my travels, and even my hometown, and I was very happy that he researched and remembered me."
The cast of Sayaka Yamaguchi and Suzuka Ueno was also announced. Yamaguchi will play Natsumi Hayase, an accounting consultant and wife of Riku Hayase, while Ueno will play Machi, the representative of the non-profit organization "Shelter."
