The much talked about NHK evening drama "Hira Yasumi," starring actor Amane Okayama and co-starring Nana Mori, will be rebroadcast in its entirety starting at 11:25 PM on January 1st. The rebroadcast will be for two consecutive nights, and will also be available for simultaneous streaming on NHK ONE.
"Hira Yasumi" is based on the manga of the same name by Keigo Shinzo, which has been serialized in "Weekly Big Comic Spirits" since 2021. It is a slice-of-life drama that follows 29-year-old part-time worker Hiroto Ikuta (played by Okayama) and his 18-year-old cousin Natsumi Kobayashi (played by Mori), who live in a single-story house a 20-minute walk from Asagaya Station in Tokyo.
The main character, Hiroto, played by Okayama, is a former actor living in Asagaya. He currently works part-time at a nearby fishing pond. He has no girlfriend and no worries about the future. He's a carefree free spirit who doesn't worry too much, but he does put a lot of thought into what he's going to have for dinner. By chance, he becomes friends with "Grandma" Wada Hanae (Negishi Tokie), who lives in a nearby one-story house, and they become friends and treat each other to dinner twice a week. After Hanae's sudden death, he inherits the house.
Mori plays Natsumi, also known as "Natchan," who moves to Tokyo from Yamagata to attend art school. She has a competitive personality, but can also be shy and self-conscious. She secretly dreams of becoming a manga artist, but has a mysterious prejudice that "drawing manga = otaku = embarrassing," so she has not told anyone that she draws manga. However, her dream eventually comes to light for Hiroto. The drama also stars Riho Yoshioka, Yoshimura Kaito, and Mitsushima Nazuna.
This time, episodes 1 to 12 will be rebroadcast from 11:25 pm on January 1st, and episodes 13 to 20 (the final episode) will be rebroadcast from 12:10 am on January 2nd.
