The show "Junin Jyuuni-iro ~As Many Family Forms as There Are Houses~" (MBS, Saturday 5pm, Kansai local and other stations) hosted by talent Mika Mifune and actor Taro Suruga will feature a "two-generation home with a full-scale gymnasium" in Izumi City, Osaka Prefecture, in the episode aired on December 27th.
The residents are a family of six: a couple, their two children, and the husband's parents. All adults are school teachers: the couple, the retired father is a health and physical education teacher, and the mother is a social studies teacher. This year, the family built a new home for two generations to live in. Inside, there is an amazing gymnasium measuring approximately 30 tatami mats in size, which actually takes up half of the house.
The house is likened to a "student dormitory," with the dining area, known as the "dining hall," kitchen, and bathroom shared between the parent and child families. Meanwhile, on the second floor, there are private rooms on either side of the hallway, arranged just like a student dormitory. The gymnasium is equipped with basketball facilities and even a five-meter-high bouldering facility. A giant screen can be set up, allowing for movies and golf practice. After dinner, the parents and children always practice judo together.
Regarding living in a house with a gymnasium, the husband says, "Now that we have a gymnasium, everyone can gather together and exercise. The most important thing is that it's fun," and the wife adds, "We are very happy to be able to see our children enjoying themselves from a distance that is neither too close nor too far." The mother smiles and says, "Everyone seems to be having fun, so I'm happy."
"Jyunin Jyuiro" is a program that visits homes all over Japan and introduces the residents' preferences and charms for their homes. After broadcast, it will be available on TVer for one week.
