Day 2 of the collaborative concert held by heavy metal band Seikima-II and the female metal trio BABYMETAL at K Arena Yokohama (Nishi-ku, Yokohama) on August 30th and 31st will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 8pm on January 4th next year. Ahead of the program, WOWOW has released a live report from Day 2.
This collaborative performance was titled "Seikima-II VS BABYMETAL: The Devil Has Come and Babymetal" and consisted of DAY 1 "Encounter" and DAY 2 "Impact."
At the beginning of Day 2, a scene was projected on the screen showing His Majesty Damien (the Great Demon King and founder of Seikima-II) and Fox God (the god of metal who launched BABYMETAL as a metal dance unit) reuniting for the first time in 100,000 years. Amidst a rapidly evolving situation, BABYMETAL appeared on stage. They kicked off with the death metal self-introduction song "BABYMETAL DEATH." During "Headbangya!!," the audience shared their strong emotions by headbanging.
Following "PA PA YA!! (feat. F.HERO)" and "Kon! Kon! (feat. Bloodywood)", the band performed "Song 3 (BABYMETAL x Slaughter to Prevail)", an overwhelming heavy sound incorporating elements of deathcore, with shouts of "1! 2! Thunder!" echoing throughout the venue.
The final song was "Road of Resistance," a song they promised to perform with THE ONE (BABYMETAL's fans). Everyone on stage and in the audience raised their fists as they shouted along to the ultimate metal anthem. Then came the refrain, "We are BABYMETAL!". Leaving behind a powerful afterglow, the girls left.
As eerie thunder and roars split the air in the venue, Seikima-II appeared. They performed "1999 SECRET OBJECT," which could be considered a final warning to humanity. This song was also used as the opening background music for BABYMETAL's previous tour, and the excitement rose among the crowd including THE ONE. Without a moment's pause, they continued with "JACK THE RIPPER," inspired by the serial killer who shocked London in the late 19th century.
Following "Old Harm Rock," which showed the pride of their 40th anniversary since their debut on Earth, "Adam's Apple" brought the packed crowd together with the incredible rhythm of the drums of His Excellency Raiden Yuzawa and the bass of Zenon Ishikawa. His Excellency interspersed his highly charismatic MC moments throughout the set, captivating everyone's hearts before they even knew it. Truly demonic in his own right.
"Next Is The Best!", a song that vows to keep fighting and moving forward, was also a highlight. As flames were sprayed, the powerful, classic metal sound that was being performed for the first time over the past two days reverberated throughout the K-Arena Yokohama. The highlight was "House of Wax Dolls," which introduced a worldview reminiscent of black magic.
"Now that there's no need to decide the winner, let's try to see what happens when the two groups resonate!" His Excellency shouted, which was the signal. Seikima-II's signature song "EL DORADO" began to play, and BABYMETAL appeared on the upper stage. Before long, both flags appeared on the screen. His Excellency and SU-METAL's world-renowned high-pitched voices intertwined. Before long, Staff Officer Luke and MOMOMETAL, and Magistrate Jail and MOAMETAL also resonated with each other through their electric guitars.
Seikima-II and BABYMETAL exchanged cheers, and at the end, Demon Kakka and SU-METAL exchanged flags in a ritual before disappearing into the light. An image of the Earth as seen from space was projected on the screen, and the sound of bells rang out, marking the finale.
