It has been announced that the second season of the TV anime "Black Clover," based on the manga by Tabata Yuki, will be broadcast in 2026. This will be the first new TV anime in about five years since the previous series aired from 2017 to 2021. The announcement was made at the "Jump Festa 2026" event currently being held at Makuhari Messe (Mihama Ward, Chiba City).
The first footage from the second season was also released. It includes a battle scene in which the main character, Asta, undergoes fierce training alongside the anti-magic demon Liebe, a scene that hints at a new battle between mages led by Yuno as they face their enemies, and a fantastical scene in which Nacht assimilates Asta with a demon (Unite) in order to train him better. A teaser visual was also released, depicting Asta assimilated with a demon, Yuno assimilated with a spirit (Spirit Dive), Nacht assimilated with a demon, and Yami about to draw his sword. It is accompanied by the tagline, "Cut open your limits."
"Black Clover" is set in a world where magic exists, and follows the story of Asta, a boy born without the ability to use magic, as he strives to become the Wizard Emperor. The original manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) in 2015 and is currently being serialized in Jump GIGA (Shueisha). The total number of copies of the comics sold worldwide is over 24 million.
The TV anime series aired from 2017 to 2021 and became popular overseas. The theatrical anime "Black Clover: Sword of the Magic Emperor," which was released in June 2023, also attracted attention. The second season will be produced by Studio Pierrot, the same studio that produced the previous TV anime series and the theatrical version.
