It has been revealed that the anime "Wings of Rean," directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, will be released on Blu-ray Disc (BD) for the first time. The BD version will include a new opening video directed by Director Tomino, announcing the beginning of the story. It will be released on March 25, 2026.
In addition to the six episodes, the Blu-ray will include bonus footage such as an interview with Director Tomino, a cross-talk between Director Tomino and Anna Tsuchiya, who sang the theme song "MY FATE," an aerial photography documentary "Above Tokyo 2006," and an orchestration guide. It also comes with a special booklet featuring new interviews with Director Tomino and other main staff members. The original soundtrack will also be released on CD for the first time, on the same day as the Blu-ray.
"Wings of Rean" is a novel based on the "Vistone Well Series," which could be considered Director Tomino's life work, and was published in 1983. It was adapted into a web anime in 2005. Set in the alternate world of Vistone Well, created by Director Tomino, it is a fantasy robot action series, the first since "Mobile Suit Gundam: Aura Battler Dunbine," and tells the story of love and adventure between A$AP Suzuki, a young boy who is summoned by the "Wings of Rean," a power that connects worlds, and Lux Sakomizu, the princess of the country of Houjou.
