The latest trailer and new visuals have been released in response to the release of the seventh episode of the all-new anime adaptation of Hojo Tsukasa's popular manga "Cat's Eye," which was popular mainly in the 1980s, on Disney+ from December 26th. Additional cast members have also been announced, including Horiuchi Kenyuu as Kaibarajin, the head of the Oriental Foundation who holds the key to the second half, and Ryotaro Okiayu as Michaël Heinz, the painter who is the father of the three sisters and went missing after a fire at the Harada Art Museum 15 years ago.
Horiuchi said, "For me, 'Cat's Eye' was a huge hit anime from my youth. I am very honored to be able to appear in such a work. This time, I played the role of Umihara, a character with quite a few quirks, and I had a lot of fun acting in the role. I hope all the fans enjoy it to the fullest!"
Okiayu commented, "I will be playing the role of Heinz, the father of the three sisters. I have been an avid reader since it was serialized, and the anime version has been rebroadcast many times in Kansai, so it is a work that is very familiar to me and one that I love. I think it was worth promoting it (laughs). He is the person who is the reason why Cat's Eye steals art pieces, so please be sure to pay attention to his past."
The latest trailer begins with Hitomi quietly yet powerfully saying, "Let's get them all back, the paintings of my father scattered all over the world." The trailer depicts the three sisters' earnest goal of continuing to search for their missing father, their resolve to live as phantom thieves, and their strong will to carve out their own destinies. The thrilling battle between the three sisters as the phantom thief Cat's Eye and Toshio, who is pursuing them, also escalates, with Hitomi's wavering words, "A thief and a detective... I guess it's difficult after all..." The second half of the trailer also features a scene where Umihara laughs fearlessly and says, "The seeds have been sown. Cat's Eye," as well as an intense car chase and scenes discussing the existence of the mysterious organization, the Cranaff Syndicate.
The new visual depicts the three sisters, as well as Umihara, Toshio, Kamiya, and Asaya, with the island of Rinnan, which holds the key to the second part, and the expansive tropical sky as a backdrop.
The series is a popular manga that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from 1981 to 1984. The story revolves around three beautiful sisters, Hitomi, Rui, and Ai, who run the Cat's Eye cafe, coolly running through the night as phantom thieves, causing a stir in society. The story is filled with brilliant action and a thrilling romance with a detective.
An anime TV series was also broadcast from 1983 to 1985, and this will be the first time in about 40 years that the series will be adapted into an anime series. In the new anime, voice actresses Mikako Komatsu will play Hitomi Kisugi, the second of the three beautiful sisters, Ami Koshimizu will play Rei Kisugi, the eldest, and Yumiri Hanamori will play Ai Kisugi, the third. Takuya Sato will play Toshio Utsumi, a detective.
Episodes 1-6 of the first part are currently streaming on Disney+. Episodes 7-12 of the second part will be released weekly from December 26th to January 30th, 2026.
