Following the success of the animated feature film Chainsaw Man : Reze, based on the popular manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto , it has been announced that the first all-night screening will be held at five theaters in five cities across Japan from 11:30 PM on December 19th. The film will include the re-edited Chainsaw Man Omnibus, which includes all 12 episodes of the TV anime and the animated version of the final episode of the original manga, Chainsaw Biyori, as well as Chainsaw Man : Reze.
The all-night screenings will be held at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo), TOHO Cinemas Namba (Chuo Ward, Osaka City), TOHO Cinemas Susukino (Chuo Ward, Sapporo City), Midland Square Cinema (Nakamura Ward, Nagoya City), and T-Joy Hakata (Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City). As a special gift for attendees, a set of three scene cards featuring cuts from the main feature and opening footage of "Reze Arc" will be presented.
A video of Reze dancing to the theme song "IRIS OUT" by singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu has been released on YouTube. Produced by MAPPA, the animation studio, the video also shows Reze pulling out the pins from her neck in time with the line "Bon!"
"Chainsaw Man" is a dark hero action story that follows Denji, a boy possessed by a demon, as he works as a devil hunter. Part 1 was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from December 2018 to December 2020. Part 2 has been serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump +" since July 2022. The total number of copies of the comics published has exceeded 34 million.
The "Reze" arc, which also appeared at the end of the TV anime series that aired from October to December 2022, is the story of Reze and the main character, Denji, which became a hot topic. While Denji is excited about a date with his crush, Makima, he takes shelter from the rain and meets Reze, a young girl working at a cafe. The film is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, who served as the action director for the TV anime, and produced by MAPPA. Released on September 19, it has been a huge hit, grossing 9.48 billion yen in Japan and over 27.88 billion yen worldwide.
