Singer Hiromi Iwasaki will appear on NHK's documentary program "Family History" (General), which will be broadcast from 10:00 p.m. on Getsuku.
The subtitle of the program that day was "Iwasaki Hiromi - A voice inherited from her mother, a song that changed her father." Iwasaki will be appearing in the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen for the first time in 37 years. She was surprised to learn for the first time that her ancestors were masters of Amami Oshima island songs.
Her mother was evacuated during the war and, amidst a series of hardships, she ended up in Tokyo. There she met her father and was born. Iwasaki dreamed of becoming a singer, but her father was strongly opposed. However, one song changed everything. This interview reveals for the first time a certain truth about her father.
The film tells the story of Iwasaki's family, who have produced numerous hit songs such as "Romance" and "Lullaby of the Virgin Mary."
