The eighth episode of the TBS Friday drama "Fake Mummy" (Fridays at 10 PM), starring actors Haru and Rina Kawaei, aired on November 28th. The scene in which Haru's character, Hanamura Kaoru, reads a letter from her mother, Seiko (Tsutsui Mariko), moved viewers to tears.

When Seiko's cancer recurred, she decided to receive in-home medical care. Kaoru began spending time at her parents' house with Iroha (Aoi Ikemura) on her way home from school until Mamie (Kawaei) came to pick her up. When Iroha called Kaoru "Mommy," Seiko asked, "Kaoru isn't Iroha's mother, so isn't it weird to have two mothers?" However, Iroha replied, "Why can't you have two mothers? Mommy is my mother too."
One day, Seiko was having a great time at the dinner table with Kaoru, Mamie, Iroha, and Ryoma (Koji Mukai). A few weeks after secretly making a wish to Iroha, Seiko quietly passed away.
After the funeral, Iroha took out a letter from a drawer and handed it to Kaoru. It had been entrusted to her by Seiko. Kaoru began reading the letter in front of Mamie, Iroha, and Ryoma, asking them to listen together.
The letter began with, "I believe by the time you read this, everything will be over," and, along with words of gratitude, went on to say that she finally understood why Kaoru had been acting as a "fake mom."
"Kaoru, the people you support are supporting you in the same way. A relationship of mutual trust is what makes a family. I can no longer hold your hand, but the warmth of those hands will always remain with me. Kaoru, you are a daughter I am proud of. I was truly happy to be your mother," Kaoru read out loud, tearfully.
On social media, the show became a hot topic, with comments such as "I cried my eyes out at the fake Mummy letter," "Wow, it was so touching! I wish it could have continued longer after the scene where they all eat together, it was too short!", "I cried at the mother's letter," and "I cried at the part about the letter."
