The drama series "Papa to Chichi no Uchigohan" (TV Asahi, Saturdays at 11pm), starring So Matsushima of the popular group "Timeless" and actor Jin Shirasu, has wrapped up filming. After about two and a half months of filming, the two stars expressed their gratitude to the cast and staff, and spoke of their passionate feelings for each other.
In this film, the two play Sengoku Satoshi (Matsushima) and Harumi Masahiro (Shirasu), two single fathers living together. Shirasu, who wrapped up filming early, was given a bouquet of flowers by Matsushima and shared a firm hug. He commented, "It's really over... Everyone was saying the same thing, but it was such a warm set, and every day felt like a family get-together. It was so fun and happy, so it was really painful when (Harumi, the character) was on the verge of losing that."
He sent a message to Matsushima saying, "I am truly glad that I was able to play Sengoku and Harumi with So. I think we were able to create something that would never have been possible if it wasn't for us, and So really led the set. He really livened things up, and thanks to that, every day was fun and I was able to get through the difficult times. I feel like I've made a really important friend!"
The next day, Shirasu made a surprise appearance at Matsushima's wrap-up, and the two shared another warm hug. Matsushima, who is starring in her first terrestrial TV drama series with this work, reflected, "I've been running alongside Jin for two and a half months, and there were many times when I struggled, and every day I was constantly reflecting on my own shortcomings. But everyone on set pushed me forward, and I was able to take on the challenge of filming this work in a warm atmosphere, so I have no regrets!"
He continued, "Before filming began, Jin told me, 'I absolutely wanted to do this project because Matsushima So was playing the role of So Matsushima,' and now I want to return those words to him in kind. If Jin hadn't been playing the role of Harumi, I don't think I would have been able to overcome it, and I wouldn't have been able to create the character of Sengoku. Jin is truly the best buddy, and he has become a lifelong asset! Thank you, big brother!"
"I would be happy if this film becomes one that people will want to watch again even 10 years from now! Thank you so much for the wonderful time we had," he concluded.
There are only two episodes left until the final episode of "Papa to Chichi no Uchigohan." Episode 9 will be broadcast on November 29th.
