A colleague, contract employee Yamada Hiroshi (Issey Ogata Ogata), emerges as a suspect. On the day of the incident, company executive Hasunuma Yoshihiko (Kondo Koen), who witnessed Yamada heading in the direction of the crime scene, testifies that Yamada had been bullied by the victim.
As a result of the investigation, it was discovered that Yamada had been visiting the area near the crime scene many times before, and that the murder weapon was a cord from Yamada's computer, making it highly likely that the murder was motivated by a grudge.
However, there is a dark secret behind the case. The possibility emerges that Yamada may have been the mastermind behind the suspected leak of the National Medical Licensing Examination results that the Second Investigation Division has been secretly investigating. The Metropolitan Police Department's higher-ups instruct Makabe Yukiko (Amami) and the "Emergency Incident Response Investigation Team (commonly known as Kintori)" to question Yamada. They also order them to cooperate with the Second Investigation Division in order to solve both the murder case and the suspected leak at once.
However, Kenichi Kisaragi (Yasufumi Hayashi) and Kota Kanemoto (Mizumaru Awashima) of the Second Division demand that Kintori prioritize the referral of the suspected leak to the prosecutor's office. The two sides are in direct conflict.
Meanwhile, Yukiko and the others are at the mercy of Yamada, who continues to give elusive answers, and the interrogation is proving difficult. In order to settle the matter once and for all, they take a gamble, but...
