The seventh episode of the drama series "Good Things and Bad Things" (NTV, Saturdays at 9 PM), starring actors Mamiya Shotaro and Araki Yuko, aired on November 22nd. In the episode, the identity of the "seventh member" of the close-knit group of former 6th grade class 1 students Takagi (Mamiya) was revealed, causing a stir on social media.
◇The following contains spoilers.
In episode 7, a serial murder case targets classmates one after another. Despite Takagi and Sonoko's (Araki) efforts to stop the murders, a fourth victim is finally found. The body of Otani (Akama Mariko), the former homeroom teacher of Class 6-1, is discovered.
A farewell party for Otani is held, and Takagi, Sonoko, and Koyama (Shintaro Morimoto) are criticized by their classmates. Takagi feels responsible for dragging everyone down, and he coldly speaks to Tsuchiya (Ayame Goriki) and Toyokawa (Inaba Yu), who want to help, and the mood between him and Koyama becomes tense, leading to him being isolated.
Meanwhile, Koyama becomes worried when he is unable to contact Chonmage, also known as Hatachi (Mori Yusaku), and goes into Hatachi's apartment to search for clues. He then finds an old cell phone in his room, which contains videos from his elementary school days. Tsuchiya and Toyokawa then arrive. The three of them go around to the homes of their classmates looking for clues... and so the story unfolds.
Later in the story, Takagi, Sonoko, Koyama, Tsuchiya, and Toyokawa gather at the snack bar "Imakuni." There, Takagi is shown a video on Hatachi's cell phone by Koyama. In the video, Takagi and the other six sing "The Bear in the Forest," along with another boy, a "seventh person." Surprised, Takagi digs up memories from his elementary school days and mutters, "Mori..." Then, they learn that Hatachi, who had been communicating with a "doctor" believed to be Mori on an elementary school social networking site, has made an appointment to meet the "doctor" on that day, and Takagi and the others head to the meeting place to rescue Hatachi.
Social media was in an uproar when the identity of the seventh person was revealed. Comments included, "The seventh person is here!", "So it's a boy," "So it's the path of the flowering 'forest,'" "The seventh person is probably one of the targets," "I think Mori-kun and the doctor are different people," and "Is it possible that the doctor and Mori-kun are different people?". Also, in episode 3, Takagi's daughter Kanon (played by Miyazaki Ririsa) was talking to her mother at home about school, saying, "Mr. Mori scolded me..." This prompted comments such as, "The seventh doctor is Mori. Is he Kanon's homeroom teacher?", "Is Mr. Mori the seventh person?" and "If the seventh person is Mr. Mori, who is in charge of Kanon's class...King is scary for not noticing."
