It has been announced that "Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart," a new film based on the November 2014 animated film "Expelled from Paradise," will be released on November 13, 2026. The announcement was made at the "Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart 11th Memorial Screening and New Information Presentation" held at Shinjuku Wald 9 (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) on November 22, where a 4K upscaled version of "Expelled from Paradise" was screened and new information was announced. Director Seiji Mizushima, screenwriter Gen Urobuchi, animation supervisor Naoki Ogita, modeling supervisor Taketo Hisame, and producer Koichi Noguchi appeared on stage to talk about the new film.
At the press conference, the third teaser trailer was released, featuring the first appearance of four new characters, Gabriel, Alma, Danel, and Raguel. Director Mizushima commented, "This trailer will allow everyone to see one situation in the work, while also raising expectations for what's to come," while Urobuchi commented, "I'm grateful that they were able to expand what was originally just a few lines in the script into something so intense."
The four new characters were described as "a team-based concept this time, a gang of troublemakers," with "Gabriel suffering from May blues," "Alma slacking off," "Danel taking a bribe," and "Raguel on a transfer."
Visuals of the four new characters, illustrated by character designer Masatsugu Saito, were also released, with producer Noguchi saying, "I requested that they draw images that couldn't be done with CG animation, so this is some incredible art. I've been working with director Mizushima on this and preparing it."
It was also revealed that Sakura Ayane will be playing Ayane Sakura, a third-class agent from the Security Bureau, Hayami Saori Hayami as Alma, Yoshino Aoyama as Danel, and Amagi Sally as Raguel, an employee of the Environmental Investigation Bureau. Temporary voice recordings have already been completed, with Director Mizushima stating, "After the auditions, I have complete confidence in them. Even in the temporary recordings, they acted with sincerity," and Urobuchi clarified, "The actors' passionate, raw voices are heading in a really good direction."
Finally, Producer Noguchi commented, "See you again in 356 days," while Urobuchi commented, "This time the story has a fairly tricky structure. You will see something you've never seen before." Director Mizushima, echoing the lines of a character in the promotional video, enthusiastically said, "I'll also 'make up my mind' and do my best."
"Expelled from Paradise" is an original anime set in a world where most of humanity lives in the cyber world of Diva, depicting investigator Angela as she investigates the purpose of a mysterious hacking incident. The new work is also attracting attention as it reunites the staff, including director Seiji Mizushima, screenwriter Gen Urobuchi, character designer Masashi Saito, and music composer NARASAKI.
