It has been announced that a new anime adaptation of Akumi Agitogi's novel "My Happy Marriage," published by Fujimi L Bunko (KADOKAWA), will be made into a three-episode series and will be broadcast as a TV anime in 2026. It will also be distributed worldwide on Netflix. A key visual has also been released, depicting Miyo Saimori in a white wedding kimono and Kiyoka Hisado holding out an umbrella under cherry blossoms in full bloom, all wrapped up in "happiness."
Reina Ueda, who plays Saimori Miyo, commented, "I've been wanting to see how Miyo, who has come to accept that she is loved and that she can love, will spend her time with her husband since then, so I was very happy when I heard about the new anime. I continued to read the script with a smile on my face, as I was struck by the cuteness of Miyo and Kiyotaka and the sweet atmosphere. I was also reminded once again that what is so great about 'Watakon' is that it's not just sweet, but also makes you savor the bittersweet aspects. The story follows Saimori Miyo, who was born into a prestigious family but grew up abused by her stepmother and stepsister after her biological mother died. She is then ordered to marry Hisado Seika, the head of a prestigious family and a young soldier known for being cold-hearted and ruthless. The series has sold over 9 million copies in total. A live-action film starring Ren Meguro of the popular group Snow Man was also released in 2023, which has generated a lot of buzz.
The first season of the TV anime aired from July to September 2023, and the second season aired from January to April.
