It has been announced that " MF Ghost MF Ghost, " based on the successor to Shuichi Shigeno's popular manga "Initial D ," will begin airing on TOKYO MX and other channels from January 4, 2026. The first trailer has also been released, depicting a key visual featuring Kanata Katagiri Katagiri seeking revenge on his rivals from the "God 15," a red 86, the fierce final of the third MFG race, "The Peninsula Manazuru," Kanata losing second gear and being overtaken one after another by his rivals, and the heated race with the "God 15" standing in his way.
It was also announced that Yu Serizawa will perform the opening theme "TIMELESS POWER feat. MOTSU" and Himika Akaneya will perform the ending theme "Yokan no Tochuu Prod. ☆Taku Takahashi (m-flo)."
Yuma Uchida, who plays Kanata, commented, "MF Ghost is back! I'm very excited that we'll be able to see the continuation of the heated battle once again. Please enjoy the heroic figures of Kanata and the other drivers until the very end."
Ayane Sakura, who plays Saionji Ren, said, "The third season is finally starting! I often hear people on set and in their private lives say, 'I'm watching MF Ghost,' and I'm very happy to see their expectations for the series. This is a season in which not only the races but also the human relationships will change dramatically, so I approached the dubbing with great enthusiasm. Director Tomohito Naka, who is working on the anime, commented, "Sorry to keep you waiting! Natsumu's revenge begins! In the third season, the story surrounding Natsumu begins to move forward in a big way. And love accompanies him. How do we portray Natsumu, who has regained his peak despite suffering from an injury? "MF Ghost" was serialized in "Young Magazine" (Kodansha) from September 2017 to February 2025. This marks Shigeno's first automobile-themed manga series in about four years, since "Initial D," which ran from 1995 to 2013. Set in Japan in the year 202X, where self-driving cars have become widespread, the story follows Kanata Katagiri Katagiri, a graduate of a British racing school, who takes part in races to achieve a certain goal, as the MFG public road car races gain popularity around the world.
Kanata is a student of Takumi Fujiwara , the protagonist of " Initial D, " and races in a red 86. The appearance of characters from " Initial D, " such as Keisuke Takahashi and Hiroya Okuyama, also attracted attention. The series was also adapted into a TV anime, with the first season airing from October to December 2023 and the second season from October to December 2024. The total number of copies of the comics published is over 7 million.
