It has been announced that a "NO MORE Movie Thief: Zootopia 2 Special Edition" of Disney Animation's "Zootopia 2" (directed by Jared Bush and others, released December 5th) will be screened for a limited time from November 21st at theaters nationwide (excluding some theaters) that are scheduled to screen the film.
"NO MORE Movie Thieves" is a campaign commercial that is screened in theaters nationwide just before the main feature of the film, with the aim of raising awareness of preventing secret filming and audio recording in movie theaters. It is a familiar video featuring the "camera man" that anyone who has ever been to the theater will have seen. This is the first time that "NO MORE Movie Thieves" has teamed up with "Hollywood Movies" and been officially adopted as a special version approved by the "Let's Go to the Movie Theater!" Executive Committee and will be screened in theaters nationwide.
In this video, the familiar Camera Man has been transformed into the "Camera Weasel," inspired by Duke Weaselton, the weasel who sold pirated DVDs in the previous film, "Zootopia," while the Police Lamp Man has been transformed into the "Police Lamp Rabbit" and "Police Lamp Fox," inspired by Judy and Nick. Judy and Nick, who work as buddies on the Zootopia police force, chase down the "Camera Weasel" who has appeared in a movie theater and raise awareness about preventing movie theft, in a special story filled with Zootopia-like humor.
The narration will be provided by actress Aya Ueto and voice actor Toshiyuki Morikawa, who also voice Judy and Nick in the Japanese versions. The special version will be gradually replaced from November 21st (it may not be shown at some films, stage greetings, events, etc. until January 8th, 2026).
This film is the sequel to "Zootopia," which was released in 2016. The previous film, "Zootopia," was set in Zootopia, a world where animals live in a high-tech civilized society like humans. It depicted Judy meeting Nick and overcoming many challenges together as she grows into a fine police officer. It was the first Disney animation film since "Frozen" to surpass $1 billion in global box office revenue. It was also a huge hit in Japan, grossing over 7.6 billion yen.
In the sequel, Nick, who has successfully graduated from the police academy and become a police officer, and Judy, the first rabbit police officer to do so, team up again to embark on an epic adventure. A new character, Gary the snake (voiced by Hiro Shimono in the Japanese version), will also appear.
