A new Gege Akutami voice drama, "Jujutsu Kaisen: Cinema," has been released on YouTube to commemorate the release of the " Jujutsu Kaisen: Shibuya Incident Special Edition x Culling Game Advance Screening" of the anime "Jujutsu Kaisen," based on the popular manga by Gege Akutami. Written by Akutami, the voice drama tells the story of the "First Years,"Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki, who go to the cinema. The drama depicts the daily lives of the three in a comical way.
"Jujutsu Kaisen" is a manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from March 2018 to September 2024. The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori, who is thrown into a world of battles over curses after a powerful "cursed object" is unsealed. The comic series has sold over 100 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2020 to March 2021, while the second season, "Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu/ Shibuya Incident," aired from July to December 2023. The third season, "Culling Game Part 1," will be broadcast nationwide simultaneously every Thursday at 12:26 a.m. on the MBS/TBS anime block "Super Animeism TURBO" starting January 8, 2026. The movie version, "Jujutsu Kaisen 0," a prequel to the first season, was released in December 2021 and was a huge hit, grossing approximately 13.75 billion yen in Japan and approximately 26.5 billion yen worldwide.
"Shibuya Incident Special Edition x Culling Game Advance Screening" will feature a special edition of the second season of the anime, "Shibuya Incident," as well as an advance screening of episodes 1 and 2 of the third season, "Culling Game Part 1." The film was released on November 7th, and in the four days up to the 10th, it grossed 710 million yen and attracted over 460,000 viewers.
