In episode 5, Takagi, Koyama (Shintaro Morimoto), and Hatachi (Mori Yusaku), the surviving members of the six targets of a serial murder case that hits classmates one after another, begin a strategy meeting in Takagi's garage. Among the former class 6-1 students, there is someone other than Sonoko (Araki) who holds a grudge against them... As they look through photos of their classmates, searching for someone they could be, Hatachi says, "There's one other person who knows us." It's Otani (Akama Mariko), their former homeroom teacher and now the school principal.
Thinking that Otani might remember things that Takagi and the others have forgotten, the three of them visit their alma mater with Sonoko. As Koyama reminisces about the school building after a long time, Sonoko has flashbacks of the difficult times she had. Seeing Sonoko like that, Takagi feels heartbroken, and on his way to the principal's office, he witnesses his fourth-grader daughter, Kanon (Miyazaki Ririsa), fighting with a boy.
After hearing the story from Takagi and the others, Otani replies that there had been no notable trouble among the former 6th grade class 1, and that he had no idea that Sonoko had been treated so badly. However, in the principal's office, Takagi and the others find a clue that only their yearbook is missing. Then, when the four of them return from school and are discussing things at Takagi's house, Kobayashi suddenly shows up... and so the story unfolds.
In the same episode, Kobayashi, who brought sweets as a gift, asks Takagi and the others, "Is the reason everyone's gathered here really about that yearbook?" Takagi doesn't want to involve Kobayashi in the details, so Kobayashi responds, "You can involve me, after all. It happened in that class. I'm a party to the incident, too." Kobayashi then asks if there's anything she can do, and invites Sonoko out for dinner alone.
Kobayashi goes out to eat yakiniku with Sonoko, and reveals that he noticed Sonoko being bullied as a child but pretended not to know, and apologizes. He then confesses that he used to like Takagi. He also mentions the existence of a video of the students holding up "pictures of their dreams for the future," and asks, "Huh? Didn't we put that in the time capsule?"
On social media, many people were quick to comment that Kobayashi, who had suddenly contacted Takagi and the others, was "suspicious." Comments included, "The class president has been so suspicious all this time," "Isn't it weird that the class president is so pushy?", "The class president is so scary," "I'm curious as to why there were enough cream puffs for everyone," "I'm sure she's involved somehow," and "The class president liked King, so maybe she got jealous of one of the kids and hid his pencil case in the gym storage room and then closed the door."
