Nippon Television announced on November 13th that it will be broadcasting a special New Year's Eve program, "Hiromi Solves! Hachioji Rehome," for five and a half hours starting at 6:00 pm on December 31st. In this program, Hiromi solves various problems using his DIY techniques, and tackles an unprecedented "super-large-scale renovation."
This time, Hiromi visited a sumo club for children who dream of becoming future Yokozuna. Currently, there are 10 children enrolled, but they are facing the problem of not being able to practice on the sumo ring because the tent roof was destroyed by strong winds from the typhoon.
Hiromi begins removing the damaged roof of the sumo ring, but it's a struggle just to remove the roof, which was built sturdy to withstand strong winds. He then focuses on the poor drainage around the ring, and dismantles the entire ring. He digs the ground with heavy machinery, buries pipes, and reconstructs the drainage system, transforming it into a ring where wrestlers can practice safely, regardless of the weather.
Furthermore, the foundation of the old house, which is over 100 years old, was so shaky that in some places the floor would sink just by walking on it. The walls were demolished and the entire floor was removed and the building renovated from the ground up to create a space where the young sumo wrestlers could live safely and comfortably. The old ceiling will also be made shiny by incorporating new technology that Hiromi has his eye on. How will they solve the challenges of renovating a sumo stable? A number of impressive helpers will also be joining the project.
The show will air on December 31st from 6pm to 11:30pm.
