To commemorate the 55th anniversary of the career of manga artist Mitsuru Adachi, known for works such as "Touch," Adachi's work graced the cover of the 50th issue of "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) and the December issue of "Gessan" (Shogakukan), both of which went on sale on November 12th. The covers of the two issues feature a design that connects illustrations from "Touch" and "MIX," both of which are set at Meisei Academy.
Issue 50 of "Weekly Shonen Sunday" is a special issue celebrating Adachi's 55th anniversary as an artist, and includes a new short story by Adachi, special essays by Rumiko Takahashi and Gosho Aoyama reminiscing about their memories of Adachi, and "The Best Mitsuru Adachi Frame" selected by the magazine's artists. The issue also comes with an "Mitsuru Adachi Frame Sticker."
The December issue of "Gessan" features "MIX" in color on the front page, along with the latest information on the project to commemorate the artist's 55th anniversary. The supplement is an alternate cover of the 24th volume of the "MIX" comics.
Shogakukan's online manga service, Sunday Webry, is holding a free fair offering 43 volumes of Adachi's comics until November 25th. A game called "Mitsuru Adachi Mitsuru Character Concentration" is also available. A large-scale exhibition, " Mitsuru Adachi Exhibition - Commemorating 55 Years of His Artistic Career," will be held at Sunshine City Exhibition Hall C in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, from December 19th.
