The Jujutsu Kaisen TV anime series, based on the popular manga by Gege Akutami (Shueisha), was released on November 7th as the "Jujutsu Jujutsu Kaisen Movie: Shibuya Incident Special Edition x Culling Game Advance Screening," and it was revealed that it debuted at number one in the movie audience attendance rankings from the 7th to the 9th (according to Kogyo Tsushinsha).
The film will include a special edited version of "Shibuya Incident," the second season of the TV anime, as well as an advance screening of the first and second episodes of "Culling Game Part 1," the third season.
"Jujutsu Kaisen" is a manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from March 2018 to September 2024. The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori, who is thrown into a world of battles over curses after a powerful "cursed object" is unsealed. The comic series has sold over 100 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2020 to March 2021, and the second season, "Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu/ Shibuya Incident," aired from July to December 2023. The third season, "Culling Game Part 1," will be broadcast nationwide simultaneously on the MBS/TBS anime block "Super Animeism TURBO" every Thursday at 12:26 a.m. starting January 8, 2026.
The movie "Jujutsu Kaisen 0," a prequel to the first season, was released in December 2021 and was a huge hit, grossing approximately 13.75 billion yen in Japan and approximately 26.5 billion yen worldwide.
