The "Decisive Battle!" series, which takes a close look at the battles that changed history through documentaries, will broadcast "Decisive Battle! After Honnoji - Mitsuhide vs. Hideyoshi, the Path to Becoming the Ruler of Japan" on NHK BS from 9:00 PM on November 15th.
The program thoroughly examines the theory that Akechi Mitsuhide did not attend the Honnoji Temple attack, which has caused a stir among history buffs. It also introduces the meticulous tactics that Mitsuhide spun like a spider's web to ensure he defeated Oda Nobunaga.
The Honnoji Incident sparked a power struggle. The film follows the tense battle between Akechi Mitsuhide and Hashiba Hideyoshi over the 12 days between the Honnoji Incident and the Battle of Yamazaki, over the position of the next ruler of Japan. In the drama portion, Ishiguro Hideo plays Akechi Mitsuhide, and Konno Hiroki plays Hashiba Hideyoshi.
Naoto Takenaka, who played Hideyoshi twice in NHK's Taiga dramas, "Hideyoshi" and "Gunshi Kanbei," appeared in the studio dressed as Hideyoshi.
◇Comment from Naoto Takenaka
Throughout the drama, I experienced the hardships that Hideyoshi went through together with Mitsuhide, so as the show progressed, it was as if memories were coming back to me in a dizzying array. Even I, who played Hideyoshi, learned a lot of things I didn't know, so I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
