Shida Mirai will star in the TBS Tuesday drama "Mirai no Musuko" starting next January.

It was revealed on November 5th that actress Mirai Shida will be starring in the TBS Tuesday drama "Mirai no Musuko" (Tuesdays at 10pm), which will start in January 2026. Shida will be becoming a mother again 20 years after her 2006 drama "14-sai no Haha ~ Ai no Tame ni Umarekita ~".

The original work is the popular manga "My Future Son: A Son Came Down From the Sky!", serialized in "Young Jump +" (Shueisha) by Kumiko Aso, known for her screenplay of "Marumo no Okite" (2011), and Hajime Kuromugi. Shida plays a woman in her 30s who is on the brink of losing her dreams and career, when a boy who calls himself her "future son" appears in front of her. The story follows the heroine, who was half-hearted in love, work, and dreams, as she suddenly becomes a mother. Through raising her child, she learns about living with someone and supporting each other, and begins to live life in her own way.

Shida plays the main character, Shiokawa Mirai. Mirai is a 28-year-old woman on the brink of collapse, with no permanent job, no savings, and no boyfriend. For many years, she has pursued her dream of becoming an actor, but has yet to see the light of day and is forced to work part-time. As she approaches 30 and is torn between continuing to pursue her dreams and accepting reality, her son from the future, Shiokawa Souta, suddenly appears before her. Souta is played by 5-year-old child actor Amano Yu, who was selected from around 200 people in an audition. This will be Mirai's first regular role in a TV drama series.

One night, as Mirai sat alone in her apartment, worrying about her future as usual with a lemon sour in hand, a small boy appeared with a clap of thunder, calling Mirai "Mama." The boy introduced himself as Souta and said he had come from the future of 2036 to reconcile Mirai and his father, "Ma-kun." Confused by this unbelievable turn of events, Mirai could not leave young Souta alone, and so they began a strange life together. Who exactly is "Ma-kun," Mirai's husband? Three completely different types of "Ma-kun" emerge as candidates. Mirai and Souta's turbulent days in search of "Ma-kun" begin. A timeless love story unfolds as a heroine, stuck in a dead end in life, meets a son from the future.

When I read the original work, I felt kindness and warmth overflowing from the entire story, and I was very honored to be able to play the role of Mirai. I also felt it was fate that I was given the opportunity to play a character with the same name as me, and I want to love Mirai in this work with all my heart. Mirai is a very straightforward and powerful girl, like the sun. But in reality, she is also a life-sized character who has many worries, such as dreams for the future and love, so I would like to play her weaknesses and strengths carefully and with care.

Although it is a story about a parent and child, the son comes from the future and is searching for his father, making it a love story unlike any other. I hope viewers will pay attention to the gradual changes in Mirai's emotions as she meets Souta, as well as the relationship between the two of them.

Mirai is a woman who never thought she would become a mother. However, after meeting her "son" Souta who suddenly appears, she unexpectedly becomes a mother, discovers the meaning of living with someone, and finds the courage to face herself. And little by little, her love and life, which had been stagnant, begin to move forward...

I believe that the atmosphere created by just being together with Shida Mirai and Amano Yu, along with the three wonderful men who are potential fathers, will really bring warmth to this story where "family" and "love" intersect.
