Actor Takuya Kimura attended the taxi ceremony for the film "TOKYO Taxi" held at Tokyo Tower (Minato Ward, Tokyo) on October 20th. Kimura, who plays a taxi driver, arrived driving his own taxi. After arriving, he escorted fellow passenger, actress Chieko Baisho, down the pink carpet, the film's image color.
Baisho said of Kimura's driving, "He's a really good driver and a very serious person, so I felt at ease." The taxi used at the event was the same model as the one used during filming. Kimura revealed that Aoi Yu had requested that he appear from the background, but he said with a wry smile, "It was a last-minute shoot, so I appeared from the front." Aoi replied, "Sorry about that (laughs)."
Co-stars Takaya Sakoda, Yuka, Runa Nakajima, and director Yoji Yamada also attended the event.
"TOKYO Taxi" is director Yamada Yoji's 91st film, a human drama starring Baisho and co-starring Kimura. One day, Kimura plays taxi driver Usami Koji, who receives a request to transport 85-year-old Madam Takano Sumire (Baisho) from Shibamata, Tokyo to a nursing home in Hayama, Kanagawa. Sumire asks Koji to make a detour. As they travel from place to place, Sumire begins to recount her own tragic past. The film depicts how a single day's journey profoundly changes the hearts and lives of the two.
