Actor Shinobu Sakagami's signature variety show, "Sakagami Animal Kingdom" (Fuji TV, Fridays at 7pm) will be broadcast on October 3rd as a three-hour special, during which the show will follow Sakagami closely for 1,584 hours (66 days).
One day, city officials visited the elderly dog home that Sakagami opened in Kimitsu City, Chiba Prefecture. They had come to observe Sakagami's activities, as he was one of the first to speak out against the problem of abandoned elderly dogs and cats. The program focuses on Sakagami's daily life as a celebrity while also working hard as a conservation activist.
Sakagami became a hot topic when he revealed on the daytime live show "Pokapoka" (Fuji TV) that he had fallen and broken a bone. The camera was closely following him even when he broke his leg. This injury later developed into a "major incident."
We also have an exclusive interview with Sakagami's wife, who talks about her husband's conservation activities from her perspective and the secret to their happy marriage.
Guest Yagi Rikako commented after the recording, "I was surprised that Sakagami-san replied to an email right after his surgery. He continued to work even when he was completely injured, and even when he was injured he was still joking around. Seeing him behave with such humor even though he must be going through a difficult time himself, I thought what a nice person he is."
On this day, the show will also feature a close-up look at the summer life of the Hirokawa family, who live with over 20 animals in Tokushima Prefecture.
