"Marriage Toxin" to be made into a TV anime in 2026

It has been revealed that "Marriage Toxin," a manga written by Banin and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda, currently being serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+," will be adapted into a TV anime series in 2026. The story is a battle action story about a young man named Gero Hikaru, a "poison user" who is a centuries-old assassin, who, in order to keep his bloodline alive, teams up with a marriage scammer named Kinosaki Mei to find the perfect marriage partner. The story has been gaining popularity, having been ranked 8th in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Awards 2022."

The main cast has also been announced, with Ishiya Haruki playing Gero Hikaru and Shion Wakayama playing Kinosaki Mei, a skilled marriage scammer who helps Gero find a partner. Horimoto Nobuyuki, known for "Carole & Tuesday" and "Metallic Rouge," will serve as director, Tokuoka Kohei will be character designer and chief animation director, and Ueno Kimiko will be in charge of series composition and scriptwriting. The series will be produced by Bones Films, which also produced "My Hero Academia."

Ishitani, who plays Gero Hikaru, commented, "I am truly honored to be entrusted with the lead role in a work that I look forward to updating every week on 'Shonen Jump+' and to be able to contribute to the work. When I heard I got the role, I was so happy that I instinctively shouted 'Yess ...

The original author, Miu Miu, commented, "I'm extremely grateful to Yoda-sensei, my editor, and all the readers who supported me! I was only able to be involved in the production a little, but the level of understanding that the animation staff, including director Hori-san, character designer Tokuoka-san, and series composition/scriptwriter Ueno-san, had...it was incredible. It was amazing to see how they polished it up with each meeting and how it got more interesting. I also watched the dubbing of the first episode...I was convinced by the superb performances of the many voice actors, led by Ishitani-san who plays Gero and Wakayama-san who plays Kinosaki. Character designer and chief animation director Tokuoka said, "Romance, action, comedy, handsome men, beautiful women, perverts...it's a fantastic work that's packed with so many different elements into one piece. The characters are all very unique, so it was a lot of fun to draw them. I hope that by seeing them come to life as animation, I can bring out the charm of the work even more."

A teaser visual has been released, depicting Gero holding the poison that will become his weapon against the backdrop of a city at night, and Shirosaki smiling and holding a bouquet of flowers, as well as a teaser PV featuring Gero and Shirosaki.
