Actor Ryuta Sato appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which aired on September 29th. Sato, who says he spends his time at home when he's not filming, opened up about his life with his three children.
This was Sato's first appearance in 17 years. When he last appeared he was single, but now he is the father of a first-year high school student, a fifth-grader in elementary school, and a third-grader in elementary school. "All three of my children are doing different things and taking lessons, so it's hard to keep going here and there. I have to drop them off and pick them up like a driver...it's a constant cycle," he said.
"My wife keeps up with that schedule every day, so I only do it when I'm there. I can't say, 'I'm off work so I'm going to go out and play by myself,'" said Sato. He also tries to participate in school events as much as possible.
At the recent sports day, she took part in a parent-child competition. "I was more nervous than when I was acting in front of a camera. I ran carefully, not wanting to fall and cause trouble for my child or the team," she said.
"I'm the type of person who grew up without ever leaving my childhood behind, so I never imagined I'd become a parent," said Sato. Spending time with her children has become "the happiest time."
"Having a child means more difficult times, but also more and more fun times. It's a bit embarrassing, but I feel grateful that he was born. I feel like my child allows me to be his parent."
