Actor Takashi Okabe attended the first public viewing (Asadora) of the NHK morning drama "Bakebake" (General TV, Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM and other times) held at the Matsue Workers' General Welfare Center, Matsue Terrsa (Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture) on September 29th. He enjoyed the premiere broadcast and talk show with the 440 attendees who gathered at the venue, and said, "I think the first episode was well received."
"Bakebake" is based on the story of Koizumi Setsu, the daughter of a fallen samurai from Matsue, and her husband Yakumo (Lafcadio Hearn ), and depicts the heroine, who loves ghost stories, going about her everyday life with her foreign husband. The script is written by Fujiki Mitsuhiko, who has worked on NHK's "Asagaya Sisters' Relaxed Life" and WOWOW's "Shooting Break Series."
Okabe, who plays Tsukasanosuke , the father of the heroine Toki Matsuno(Akari Takaishi ), commented, "Yesterday (September 28th), I ate fish and clam soup from Shimane. (My impression of Shimane) is that Lake Shinji and the rivers are beautiful, and it reminds me of my hometown, Wakayama Prefecture. I had heard that (my co-star Kohinata) had visited the shrines and temples in Matsue, so I really wanted to go there too."
"The talk show was very lively with the audience asking questions and there was a lot of laughter in the audience, so I think the first episode was well received. Fujiki-kun, the scriptwriter (who I've known for a long time), is very particular about making people laugh, so I wanted to show him what the audience was like," he said.
The event was also attended by Yakumo Koizumi's great-grandson, Bon Koizumi, director of the Yakumo Koizumi Memorial Museum.
