On September 28th, a couple who ended up getting married after just two and a half hours of conversation appeared on the variety show "Nanani Chika Abema" (ABEMA, Sundays at 8pm), hosted by Goro Inagaki, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, and Shingo Katori.
On this day, four couples who got married after zero days of dating appeared on the show, titled "Welcome, Zero-Day Marriages!". They shared a number of surprising stories, including one about a man who fell in love with a life planner he met while consulting about a career change, and proposed to her on the spot.
Yuta and Ami, a married couple who decided to get married after just two and a half hours of conversation, revealed how they met. Yuta, who was active as a YouTuber, met Ami through a friend, and the next day they spoke for about 30 minutes at a dinner party with friends.
Two days later, Ami and her friends joined them for a drinking party, where everyone was having a great time. After about two hours, the topic of "Are you dating anyone?" came up, and Ami suggested, "I'm 30, why don't we get married?" At the time, Ami had her marriage registration form in hand, and her friends encouraged her, saying, "Let's just fill it out!"
The two promised to "meet in front of the ward office at noon the next day when we'll have sobered up if we're serious about filing for marriage," and disbanded after the drinking party. Yuta thought, "I wouldn't get married, and even if Ami showed up in front of the ward office, I'd just say, 'By the way!' and that would be the end of it," but when he got to the ward office, Ami was there too. Yuta thought, "What should I do...?" but decided to get married, saying, "I've never met such an interesting woman, and I thought it would be great if we could keep this vibe going forever."
Looking back on that time, Ami commented, "I had no intention of getting married, and all I wanted to do was fill out a marriage registration form and post it on social media as 'I got married!' to fool my friends." However, in front of the ward office, they confirmed each other's religions, whether they had any debts, and even their financial sense, such as "Is 1,000 yen for shaved ice expensive or cheap?", and decided to submit the marriage registration.
It was only when they saw the marriage registration that they found out they were the same age and shared the same last name, and it was then that they exchanged contact information for the first time. They have now been married for two and a half years and have a son. The other guests in the studio commented with admiration, saying, "So that's how it goes."
