Actor Yosuke Eguchi appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on September 26th. He talked about the time he passed the audition and his life surrounded by music.

When he auditioned for the movie "Shonan Bakusozoku" (1987), the character's name was "Eguchi Yosuke." Until then, he had repeatedly failed auditions and thought he was not cut out to be an actor. "At that time, the name (pronounced) was the same as his, and I had read the original novel, so I thought to myself, 'Who else could play this role?'" He said. Apparently, there are people who still think he is using the character's name.

Music was always around him from the time he was a child. "My dad liked jazz and other things, and we grew up in a household with a lot of vinyl records." The coffee shop his mother ran played cable radio. He was in elementary school at the time, but "kids in their late teens and early twenties would come there. I hung out with them, so while I was getting more mature, I was also taught about all kinds of music, guitars, and motorcycles."

Also, his uncle, with whom he lived, would play The Beatles all the time in the house. "Looking back, I must have really loved them. They were at full volume from morning till night. I listened to them all the time as a kid, so I memorized all the melodies. Even when I picked up the guitar, the melodies just kept coming out. I would spontaneously write songs in my messy English."

His wife is singer Chisato Moritaka. "She also really likes the Beatles. When we listen to the Beatles, she really likes Ringo Starr's drumming, so we sometimes talk about how she likes the sound of the drums," he revealed.
