It has been announced that "Anime is Eating the Earth," an anime-focused variety show hosted by Kento Nakajima, will be broadcast on TV Tokyo at 11:06 PM on September 29th. From September 29th to October 5th, TV Tokyo will be hosting "Autumn Anime! Anime Week for Kids and Adults alike," featuring anime collaborations with the station's popular variety shows such as "Why Did You Come to Japan?" and "THE Karaoke★Battle," as well as the terrestrial broadcast premiere of "Spy × Family Code: White the Movie." "Anime is Eating the Earth" will be the first to air.
"Anime is Eating the Earth" will be hosted by anime fan Nakajima, with appearances by popular voice actors Yuki Kaji, Nobuhiko Okamoto, and Miyashita Kenshitaka of the comedy duo Miyashita Kusanagi. Nakajima will interview people from around the world who have been "devoured" (obsessed) by anime, known as "anikuwa," and have them talk about the anime that they themselves have been "devoured," digging deeper into the world of "anikuwa." In the studio, there will also be intense and nerdy talk.
Nakajima said, "I thought I would be nervous this time because I'm the MC of the show, but because the show is themed around my favorite anime, I was able to get beyond nervous and relax, and it was a time where I could just enjoy anime culture with my eyes. I've sung theme songs for several anime, so personally, having people all over the world promote my music through anime was another happy part of the experience. It really shows how anime serves as a bridge between Japan and the world, and it's a show that makes you feel the value of Japanese IP."
Kaji said, "Just as the title suggests, it was a time when I really felt the momentum and significance of anime in the world! How much can the existence of an 'oshi' save people? How much can it encourage them? It was an opportunity to once again realize that power. As a voice actor, a department involved in the production of this work, I feel even more humbled! I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm convinced that 'anime will bring about world peace.' It's a program that anyone can enjoy, so please relax and watch!"
Okamoto commented, "Seeing the various people on 'AniKuwa', I was amazed at the greatness and influence of Japanese anime, but it also made me proud of my job as a voice actor. As the Yuki Kaji voice actor guest, I was able to chat naturally and enjoyably. I hope this becomes a regular show!"
Miyashita said, "This program is truly filled with everyone's love and passion, and the voice actors, Kaji and Okamoto, listen to that love for anime, which makes it feel like a form of fan service, and just watching it made me feel warm and fuzzy. It's a program that is truly filled with everyone's love for anime, so be sure to check it out!"
