Actor Hiro Furumura will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 pm on September 19th. Furumura played Kuroyanagi's mother, Asa-san, in the NHK morning drama series "Cho-chan," which aired in 1987.
Thirteen years ago, at the age of 46, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer and underwent surgery, but it recurred five years later. After three recurrences, she is now battling cancer for the fourth time. She said that her approach to cancer has changed, and that her recommendation is to "sigh." She also said that the way she communicates with her doctor has changed.
While battling illness, she raised three sons, and in April her first grandchild was born. She spoke to Kuroyanagi about the joys of raising grandchildren.
