Anime "Steel Ball Run" to be released worldwide on Netflix Director Yasuhiro Kimura: "I'm excited"

It has been announced that the anime "Steel Ball Run: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure," based on "Steel Ball Run," the seventh part of Hirohiko Araki's popular manga series "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure," will be streamed worldwide on Netflix.

Director Kimura Yasuhiro commented, "Steel Ball Run is a story about characters running through an epic race, each putting their own beliefs on the line. I am thrilled to be directing this animated adaptation. All of the staff share the same feelings and are pouring their passion into the production every day. I look forward to the day when we can share our passion with everyone through the series, and I would be happy to run through this journey together with you all." A livestream event to announce new information about the series will be held on September 23rd.

Part 7 is set in late 19th century America and depicts the SBR Race, a transcontinental horse race across North America. The protagonist is Johnny Joestar, a former genius jockey who is now partially paralyzed, who teams up with the mysterious outlaw Gyro Zeppeli to take on the grueling race.

The anime will be directed by Kimura and Takahashi Hideya, who worked on "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind," with Kato Toshiyuki, who directed "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean," serving as series director. Yasuko Kobayashi, who has worked on all anime series, will be in charge of series composition. The series will be produced by David Production.

Netflix also announced that the drama series "You're Going to Hell," starring actress Erika Toda, and the drama series "Did You Say Something About Me?" starring Koji Yakusho and written by Kankuro Kudo will be available in 2026.
