On September 11th, screenwriter Shizuka Oishi attended a press conference at TV Asahi's headquarters (Minato Ward, Tokyo) for the network's drama series "Shiawase na Kekkon" (Thursdays at 9pm), the ninth and final episode of which will be broadcast on the same day. She spoke about behind-the-scenes stories from the production.
When asked about the intention behind the scene in which detective Kurokawa Ryuji, played by Yosuke Sugino, gobbles up ramen and cake, Oishi replied, "If the lines were something like, 'I like that person,' or 'I'm curious about that person,' it wouldn't be funny at all, so my job is to think about how to express that." She continued, "I wrote the scene thinking about things like, would it be sexy if Sugino were chowing down ramen? Or, wouldn't it be unexpectedly cute to see him eating cake?"
He said that the eating scene had to be retaken many times, and revealed, "Apparently I ate eight cakes (laughs)."
The drama marks Oishi's first drama series since last year's much talked about NHK Taiga drama "To Dear Radiance (Hikaru Kimi e)." The story centers around the bachelor Harada Kotaro (Abe) who is attracted to the mysterious high school art teacher Suzuki Nerula (Matsu) and marries her unexpectedly, only to find out that Nerula is a suspect in the death of his ex-fiancé, Nuse Yuto (Reo Tamaoki). While a family drama, the story is billed as a "marriage suspense" that explores the love between husband and wife.
